Background:
Ed has practised exclusively in the areas of civil litigation since his call to the Ontario Bar in 1984. He has extensive experience in all of our courts, including the Ontario Court (General Division), the Ontario Court of Appeal, the Federal Court of Canada and the Supreme Court of Canada. Ed acts for a broad spectrum of clients ranging from private individuals to manufacturing companies and large financial institutions, and for both plaintiffs and defendants in all areas of his practice. Ed handles commercial litigation, personal injury claims, insurance cases, estate litigation and employment law matters. Ed graduated from St. Michael's College, University of Toronto in 1979, where he majored in English Literature, and from the Faculty of Law, University of Toronto, in 1982. He is a former partner of Bassel, Sullivan & Leake and one of the founding partners of Bennett Best Burn LLP. He has spoken on legal matters before private associations and at Law Society of Upper Canada Continuing Legal Education Programs. Ed is a member of the Advocates Society and the Ontario Bar Association. Edward M.
